Quality of Life Purchases

In the past I have posted about key spends and always asking if that spend and purchase will increase your quality of life. So, I thought I would list as many of the quality of life purchases we have made. No particular order. I’ll keep updating with pictures and details.
  • 2016 Porsche 911 C4S - yeah, it may seem like a 1st world problem but it is an incredible car and it creates time on drives and fun with Zabrina and I. It’s such a treat. Ok, I have too many cars, I get it.

  • Breville Precision Insulated Coffee Maker - this thing makes incredible coffee and we do the grinding each morning and our coffee is every bit as good or better that most coffee shops we go to.

  • Frigidaire Gallery Freezer (or Fridge) - it’s pretty cool because you can flip a switch and it becomes a fridge and it just looks good. We use it as a freezer in the garage and we cook on weekends and freeze the food. Always stocked with homemade goods or Costco bulk purchases.

  • Chocolate Milk - I love chocolate milk. Whole Foods used to carry a local daily and the milk was top notch. The dairy went another route with ice creams leaving me high and dry. The best choco milk I found since was Publix Whole Choco Milk so I kept some of the glass 1/2 gallon bottles and pour it in when I bring it home…kind of like Coke is best in glass bottles, so is choco milk. Yes, pretty sure I have tried every choco milk in 3 counties. No picture because I’m out of milk….trick is the expiration dates.
  • Seal-a-meal - we got this right after we got the freezer, a must have and regularly in use. Get extra bags in bulk on Amazon.
  • Canyon Land Cooler - we have always wanted to get a Yeti cooler but they won’t fit in the frunk of the Porsche. While on vacation in Colorado, we found the Canyon Land cooler which is comparable if not slightly better and it fits!
  • Outdoor Furniture - probably bought this set at Lowe’s 10 years ago but it’s been amazing solid set over the years. We sprung for some new foam 2 years ago and we should get much more out of it, still looks new.
  • Vintage Fan - I paid a good bit for a large vintage fan. Plan was to clean it up and sell for 300 or 400 dollars. Instead it has never left our bedroom. Zabrina runs it every night, I just freeze.
  • Orange Knife - Zabrina got one of these probably cleaning out her mothers house, but she swears this is the best knife in the world.
  • All-Clad Frying Pan (and electric frying pan) - while I can’t take a picture of it, we threw it out a few months ago, and it’s just hard for me to get my head around spending 300+ on a frying plan. But…it was used every day for 10 years. We got at a TJ Max or something along with the electric frying pan.
  • Retractable Garden Hose - we are on our 3rd one. The first 2 were from Frontgate, but quality issues pushed us to another well reviewed one. They don’t last more than 2 or 3 years in general but super convenient.
  • Hanging Plant Pulleys - got the generic ones off Amazon and Zabrina uses their functionality daily, useful game changers don’t have to cost a lot of money.
  • Maytag Bravos XL Washer and Dryer - this has been the best washer and dryer we have had to date. We did have to clean out gallons of lint last month from the dryer and I disassembled it all the way to the bones and amazing a fire wasn’t started. May not be worlds top of the line, but appliances that work for the long term are rare in this day and age.
  • Yeti 16oz Coffee Insulated Mug - they are just a way of life. Had mine for years, replace tops occasionally with the magnetic top. Super critical for Porsche owners!
  • Sur La Table Baking Sheets - easy to clean, nothing sticks, superior quality
  • Apple iPad and AirPods - while I wasn’t going to get into electronics, the fact is my business is run almost completely on the iPad, iPhone and the AirPods (well, for enjoyment at least).
  • LED Workshop Lights - I get these odd Amazon and love them. Bought 6 so far and have them in garage and all the storage units. Great work lights. For roughly $14 a piece.
  • House on the pond - we almost bought the house on the opposite side but decided that being on the pond side would always be a regret if we didn’t do it. No regrets.
  • Quick Jack 5000 XL - Mostly for car people, but if you do your own car maintenance, this is the next best thing other than a full lift. Bought it off a friend of ours and gets used regularly to lift the cars or SUVs up 21 or more inches.
  • Corelle Winter Frost White Dishes - we started to collect these at auction and decided our old plates needed replacement and our parents always had these. Again, simple classic design.
  • Foldable Cart - whatever brand it I’d, wifey loves it, especially moving daughter in and out of dorm and apartment.
  • 2014 Volvo XC60 - Z got in a bad accident in the Rav 4, totaled. Opted to Les safety drive the purchase and went with a Volvo…no regrets, it’s a tank.
  • Costco Executive Membership -
  • Timberland Boots -
  • Commercial-grade Wardrobe Hanger -
  • Breville Rice Cooker -
  • Rollo Wireless Thermal Label Printer - yeah, I paid $300 for this but it’s WiFi wireless, exceptional quality, works with iOS devices and all apps, small, no ink to buy and labels are cheap and not proprietary.

  • Esquisocat Pine Cat Litter - I change litter maybe every 2 weeks, no smell, no interim scooping, no clay sand all over. Combined with the liner bags and when needs changing, pull out liner with used litter, put in garbage, put new liner in and fill, wait 2 more weeks. Probably I get this longevity since Sydney is an indoor-outdoor cat, but great product. Trying out a cheaper one by Arm and Hammer and so far results good. Try to get when it’s on sale.
  • Oster Model 10 Trimmer - when I used to cut my hair, I cut it myself and sprung for this top end hair trimmer. Don’t use on hair but now on my beard. Old school quality, this will last a long long time.
  • Sydney - don’t get me started.

  • Honda Lawn Tools -
  • Kitchenaid Mixer -

Things we would never buy again:
  • Kitchenaid Appliances - Fridge, Microwave, Dishwasher - pure junk, always breaking, low quality.
  • Verizon Wireless - they are terrible, dishonest, and will take any moment to call them out.
  • Time-Warner Cable - thank heavens Ting came to town, thrilled with pricing, customer service, and quality. All opposite of TWC whose only goal is to make as much money off you as possible.
