Day Trip - Cape Fear Kite Festival in Cape Fear (Kure Beach), NC

Today, Zabrina and I decided to take a day trip to Cape Fear for the Kite Festival. The drive was about 2.5 hours and we arrived at about 10.30. The web site stated this is “the last professional kite event of the season”, I wasn’t even aware one could make a career of flying kites or perhaps I would have selected this one the eBay thing.  

The wind was a little too weak for the really big kites to come out and play and never really picked up as the day progressed, although some good efforts. There were tons of people, a band and food and brewery trucks and tents.














Around 1pm, we opted to head to Wilmington and walk around, a great coastal college town. We pulled up our bar stools at Anne Bonny’s for some cocktails and food. It’s basically a bar and grill on a permanently docked old ferry. The vibe was casual, food and drinks good and just what we were looking for.










A good day, we needed that.

Ok, admittedly I don’t get very many comments on the blog. But what gets me is this business of using blogger comments to put advertisements in them, what I am guessing to get the search bots to think they have more links that they really do in an attempt to get higher search rankings.  When I see them, I just delete them as I would rather have no comments then crappy comments. I suspect they are trying to trick the search engines to think they have links to all these sites and increase their search result ranking…go somewhere else please. Odds are if you have to resort to this type of gaming, you don’t have a quality product or service.  I now moderate all comments and will not approve any comments with URLs in them. Rant over. John

eBay Sales Cycles, Best Times of the Month and Week To Sell

  Most of this is common sense but like everything else, may have variations depending on category. I have been looking over the sales trends for about a year since and now that I am setting most of my listings as Promoted Listings, it makes it easier to see monthly and weekly sales trends.  Observations: Common paycheck periods definitely have a major play with 1st and 15th of the month (starting a day before) being the biggest sales periods of the month, especially for higher priced listings. But I have found to take the best advantage of it, have your listings posted a week in advance if possible. I did a large number of listings 2 days before the end of the month and they seemed to have missed the wave. People have probably already made up their minds days in advance on bigger purchases. Government paychecks go every 2 weeks and can be found pretty easily with a Google Search . Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are generally the worst days of the week with it bottoming out on ...

Framing Project - For Sale - Weaver Gallery Steve Steigman Maxell Blown Away Porsche Poster (France, Original)

For Sale (listed on eBay in the SecondMoonshot store) In January, I won an auction (offered by “adomala” aka Josh) for a hard to find Weaver Gallery Blown Away Poster by Steve Steigman, featuring a Porsche 911 G-Body Targa - Probably early ‘80s model as poster is from 1985. Since I have one (although an early model ‘76 Targa and in platinum metallic or gold…but the emotion is there) - pictured below at the Porsche dealership after some work was done.   I have been looking for one for a long time and this one was in great condition. I paid a pretty penny for it but it was worth every bit of it. Josh did a phenomenal job in answering my flurry of questions and did what I think was the most comprehensive packing and shipping job I have seen (and learned from, double-tubed, insured, waterproofed, signature required, and then some).  I had a vision of how I would frame this, very similar to how I did a similar Steigman poster (guy in chair classic one) with 2 cutouts on the mat boa...
