Day Trip - Hanging Rock State Park, Hillbilly Hide-a-way Restaurant and Danbury NC

Sunday, Zabrina and I decided to take a day trip and head up to Hanging Rock State Park by Danbury NC. We went to the Welcome Center area for parking and took the initial gentle hike to Hanging Rock which got a bit harder, but not to bad, probably 4 or so miles total. Some spectacular views to be had for sure and then we went and took a short hike to one of the less-than-spectacular waterfalls. 






After we finished hiking, we decided to go over and get a bite to eat at Hillbilly Hide-a-way Restaurant. We went there 3 or so years ago and the claim to fame for this place is that Billy Ray Cyrus had eaten here and I think played on occasion at the music hall in the rear. We were told by the owner that she and her daughter had followed Billy Ray and Miley around on tour for a long time, maybe a full tour or something…so they have pictures of the Cyrus family all over around the register. 

For some reason, the food seemed like it was better 3 years ago, not that it was bad, just perhaps we had eaten so much, we might have made ourselves sick. It is a buffet, but they have a fixed menu which is 3 meit’s (chicken, meatloaf, and ham), some veggies and starches (mashed potatoes, gravy, green beans, corn), breads (2 different kinds of bread…one a corn bread and one biscuit like), a tasty slaw and some delicious fried apples. You just ask for more of what you want and they bring it to you. Folks are super nice. We opted for the desert which I mistakenly overfilled and ate the banana pudding on the spot. 



I had to pull over and take a short nap before taking on the 2 hour drive home.

  Most of this is common sense but like everything else, may have variations depending on category. I have been looking over the sales trends for about a year since and now that I am setting most of my listings as Promoted Listings, it makes it easier to see monthly and weekly sales trends.  Observations: Common paycheck periods definitely have a major play with 1st and 15th of the month (starting a day before) being the biggest sales periods of the month, especially for higher priced listings. But I have found to take the best advantage of it, have your listings posted a week in advance if possible. I did a large number of listings 2 days before the end of the month and they seemed to have missed the wave. People have probably already made up their minds days in advance on bigger purchases. Government paychecks go every 2 weeks and can be found pretty easily with a Google Search . Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday are generally the worst days of the week with it bottoming out on Tuesdays.

SecondMoonshot Font (Freely Available) and New Kiss Sticker

Carrie (our VP of Branding) has been working on some new computer design skills and refining them for almost a year now and is near completion of a custom font called “SecondMoonshot”. Our original vision was to maintain the hand drawn theme similar to our logo and this font is 100% made up from her own print handwriting. Creating fonts is much more complex than it sounds and she had to overcome several challenges. This week during a road trip, she pulled out her iPad and she filled in some missing characters we wanted and this will be our v1 version. She’s making a few final tweaks and the SecondMoonshot logo is even one of the characters! Our intent is to use this font for our printed materials such as the company info inset sheet which I put into every package shipped. Then we were looking to get a new kiss sticker (from stickermule.com) which I use to also include with hanging hardware for any framing job or picture sold. Special Guest Appearance to the SecondMoonshot Warehouse!

Every time I see my kids, it’s special….this was no exception. Carrianne is my oldest and well known for her impeccable choice of fashion as you will agree with the one-of-a-kind t-shirt (well, 6 of-a-kind technically). She just moved into a new house (rental for now while she saves and invests at a mammoth pace for a home to call her own). She was on the hunt for vintage (I.e. free) furniture and acquired a nice wood veneer computer desk, dining room table and 2 dressers.  She is the one that created the SecondMoonshot current logo and created its own font! How cool is that. Her second job is VP of Branding for SecondMoonshot…honorary title as it comes with no pay, but she earned it. John
